Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-23
This Privacy Policy describes how SightLab Cost (the “site”, operated by SightLab editors) handles information when you visit https://cost.sightlab.live. Effective date: 2026-08-23.
The site does not offer user accounts. We do not ask you to upload cloud bills or access keys. Calculator inputs stay in the page and can be encoded in the URL so you can share a scenario — do not put secrets in those fields or URLs.
Who is responsible
SightLab editors operate this site. Privacy questions: qingfengmy@gmail.com or the Contact page. We do not sell personal data.
What we collect
Depending on how you use the site, the following may be processed:
- Technical request data needed to serve the page (IP address, user agent, referrer, timestamps). The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request logs as described in Cloudflare’s own documentation.
- Optional Cloudflare Web Analytics (privacy-oriented measurement of page views). This is not an advertising cookie by itself.
- Theme preference and (if stored) language preference in your browser via localStorage. That data does not leave your device through us.
- Email address and message contents if you write to us or use the Contact form (the form opens your mail client; we only see what you actually send).
- If you later subscribe to email alerts or a waitlist, the address you submit and the locale / tool page you came from.
Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies
We use localStorage for theme (and optionally language). These are strictly necessary for those features to remember your choice.
Cloudflare may set cookies that are required for security and network delivery of the site.
If Google Analytics (GA4) is enabled in the future, it will use cookies or similar identifiers to understand aggregated traffic. We will update this policy if that happens.
Advertising cookies are described in the next section. They are loaded only when ads are actually served.
Google advertising cookies
The site may display ads served by Google AdSense and, where required, other certified ad networks. The following disclosures are provided as required for Google advertising cookies:
Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to your website or other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.
If other third-party vendors or ad networks serve ads on this site, we will name them here and link to their opt-out pages when they offer one. You can also review the Network Advertising Initiative for additional guidance.
Non-personalized ads may still be shown after you opt out of personalization. Browser controls can block cookies, but some site features (theme memory, Cloudflare security) may stop working.
Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland and similar laws)
Where the law requires consent before storing or accessing advertising or analytics cookies on your device, we will use a consent mechanism before those cookies run. Until ads are enabled, we do not load Google advertising cookies.
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland when ads are shown, we intend to use a Google-certified consent management platform and Google Consent Mode so that ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization stay denied until you agree.
How we use information
- To operate, secure, and debug the site.
- To understand which tools and articles are useful (aggregated).
- To reply when you email us.
- To serve and measure advertisements, if and when ads are enabled, including limiting how often you see an ad.
- To comply with law and protect the site against abuse.
Retention
Server logs follow Cloudflare’s retention for the plan we use. Email you send us is kept only as long as needed to handle the request, then deleted or stored with access limited to the editors. We do not build marketing profiles from calculator inputs.
Your choices
You can refuse optional cookies (when a consent banner is shown), use Google Ads Settings, or email qingfengmy@gmail.com to ask what we hold about you and to request deletion of email correspondence we still have. We will not be able to identify you from anonymous page views alone.
Children
This site is written for developers and operators. It is not directed at children under 16 (or the equivalent age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy by publishing a new version on this page. The effective date at the top will change. Material changes to advertising or analytics will be reflected here before those technologies are turned on.
